Student profile

Lokrum Fields welcomes academically able students aged 10 to 16+ who need the nurturing environment and educational approach associated with our specialism in autism, anxiety and related needs.

Students at Lokrum Fields will normally have an Education, Health and Care Plan, following an EHC Needs Assessment. A full EHC Needs Assessment usually requires input from an Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist and Occupational Therapist, along with clinical information for example from a Consultant Paediatrician or CAMHS. These assessments enable us to form an initial understanding of each student’s needs.

We welcome students with or without a formal diagnosis, whose assessed needs are consistent with our approach.

We maintain a calm and predictable environment within Lokrum Fields, enabling anxious students to feel secure. As a result, we are unable to accept students who display challenging behaviour.

Our provision is designed for students who, with the right support, are expected to be able to access an age appropriate curriculum and achieve comparable GCSEs to their academically able mainstream peers.

Our students have been unable to thrive at a mainstream school and have often missed significant periods of schooling. They typically require a personalised approach to learning and a comprehensive package of therapeutic support within the school curriculum.
